The 5th International Workshop on Spark Plasma Sintering will be held in Toulouse, France in November 2024. This meeting will provide an opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the CNRS SPS national platform of Toulouse, which was created in the fall of 2004.

The intention of the workshop remains unchanged with respect to the previous successful ones (1st Edition in Avignon-2008 organized by G. Bernard-Granger from CREE-St-Gobain, 2nd and 3rd editions in Capbreton (2011) and Toulouse (2014) organized by C. Estournès from CNRS-CIRIMAT and the French National Research Consortium on SPS and the 4th Edition in Cagliari (2018) organized by G. Cao and R. Orrù from University of Cagliari

This International Workshop will offer an interdisciplinary meeting point for scientists from academia and industry to present and discuss the state-of-the-art in SPS and recent developments on Cold, Flash and HP-SPS. The purpose is to give some breakthroughs regarding densification mechanisms, and highlight advances in the understanding of the influence of various parameters such as current path, temperature gradients and mould nature / design influence, whatever is the powder bed (conductive or isolating). Joining of different materials and functionally graded materials are also concerned. The Workshop will also be the occasion to make a point one the modeling of the process, on the hybridization/combination of processes with SPS to develop originals materials, multi-materials and of complex shapes and open new application perspectives.

The workshop will be held in Toulouse, a Southwestern France city and will be located at the University Toulouse 3 Paul Sabatier from 6th (Wednesday) to 8th (Friday) of November. We will propose a visit to “Cité de l’Espace” on Thursday afternoon. The meeting will end in the afternoon of the 18th (Friday).
